Socorro Martínez is a Mexican Painter who was
born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. She has
been painting since she was a child. In
1991 she began her professional career as a
painter, specializing in Pastels.
"As a child, I was drawn quite naturally to the
arts but it was in painting that I found my
life. I have very little formal training,
in part, because I began exhibiting my work
shortly after starting art lessons.
Suddenly, doors opened, ideas arose, and
situations came as if sent by God.
Throughout my career, I have been inspired to
portray the world that surrounds me through a
combination of real and imagined images filling
my canvases with the intense, brilliant, and
typically Mexican colors that mirror the
emotions of my heart. My life and my work
intertwine. In a way, all my works talk
about
love. I
concluded that
love
is the best reason to live.
Love
in the Universal sense:
love
of nature, of objects, and of work itself.
I contemplate land and space, observe, paint,
and feel a great
love
emerging from inside of
myself."
Socorro Martínez defines her style as "Image
Realism" with "Idealistic Tendencies," where
lines and colors give a simple and immediate
visual impression. In her
compositions, there is a total image
recuperation in absolute autonomy, achieving
a transgression of reality, where objects
and the artist's magic world form the unity
in her paintings.
There is a rupture between background and
form, predominating her spirituality,
freedom and fantasy. In her paintings,
there is a prevalence of Mexican topics and
an intensity of color.
Originally, creating
pastels, Socorro Martínez now
paints with acrylics on canvas and other
media.
